When you have a disability, it takes courage to stay connected with the world. You don’t want people to see you as weak or different. You may even feel ashamed of your condition. So, you retreat from the world.
But, that has to change. Because you have something to contribute. You have something to say.
People with disabilities represent millions of potential volunteers, voters and consumers with real social, political and economic power.
Together, we can use that power to change our communities for the better.
It has been said that the world is run by those who show up. We need to show up and we need to speak up. It’s not enough to simply occupy the world, we must participate in it.
